My Voice Work and Production

In this section I will be posting all of my favourite sound clips of me on the air, and some of my production work. I constantly will be updating it as well, so make sure you keep checking back!

Most of the clips will be from INDI 101, my college FM radio station where I have volunteered at for the past two years. Keep in mind I also have production experience at Y108 and Vinyl 95.3 FM while interning there throughout 2010.

NEW AUDIO: Here's a recent interview I did with the Hamilton Thunderbirds new field manager Matt Fortuna.

NEW AUDIO: Here are two clips of me recently on the air reading live sports news during the Hamilton Red Wings broadcasts on INDI 101:

Sports

In this section I will be posting clips of me play-calling live sports. I have done a lot of play by play and colour commentary work for both the CCHL's Hamilton Red Wings and the IBL's Hamilton Thunderbirds. The CCHL is considered some of the best amateur hockey in southern Ontario. Many of the "Junior A" players get drafted and go on to play in the NHL or AHL shortly after playing in the league. The IBL is the Intercounty Baseball League, and is the only semi-professional baseball league in Ontario. Many players in the IBL are ex-College players, and ex-Minor leaguers. A select few of the young players in the league go on to get drafted into the MLB, and it is certainly high quality baseball.

Commercials

Throughout my time at INDI 101, I have written, produced, and voiced commercials on hundreds of occasions. In this section I will be posting snippets of my work over the past two years.

Here is a commercial I wrote, voiced and produced for Sheyworth Web Marketing and Design. It will be aired in the Orillia, Ontario area, but it is not known at which stations. You can check out their website here.

This is one of the many weekly commercials I voiced for the Hamilton Thunderbirds broadcasts on INDI 101. Not only was I the voice of the broadcast, I also did the commercials for the games! The team played at least two home games a week in the summer, and I would have to voice two different commercials promoting the games.

Here are four different thirty-second commercials that I self-produced and recorded, advertising my radio show on INDI 101.

This is a commercial I voiced for "The Ship." They are one of many live venues that advertise with my college station INDI 101. This is just one example of a commercial I voiced, but I did commercials like this almost on a daily basis throughout my college career.

Interviews

I have had the privilege to be a part of a number of radio shows during my short career. I have been involved with a morning show which consisted of a group of 5, a show in which I had a co-host, and my own solo show, The Greg Balloch Radio show. I have been able to conduct a number of interviews during these shows, and I will post a few of them here. During the 2010 MLB baseball season I had the chance to sit down with a number of professional baseball players and staff. Some of those interviews will be posted in this section too. Interviewing has always been a passion of mine. I conducted my first ever interview at age 16 for a hockey website I started up. Unfortunately I do not keep that blog up to date anymore, but I have provided a link to it in the left hand column. The interview was with Hamilton Bulldogs' goaltender Cedrick Desjardins, and you can find the text transcript of it here.

Here is my interview with Toronto Blue Jays single-season home run record holder Jose Bautista

Here is an interview I did with one of my idols in the radio industry, Jerry Howarth. Jerry has been the play-by-play broadcaster for the Toronto Blue Jays since 1981. The clip comes from a segment of the JaysDome podcast, which I host every single week throughout the Toronto Blue Jays season.

This is an interview I did on February 2nd, 2010 with Anthony Fantano who is a radio broadcaster himself, and runs the website The Needle Drop. Fantano is affectionately known as "The internet's busiest music nerd" and the interview took place on my show The Greg Balloch Radio Show.

Local musical acts routinely guest on my radio show, such as Oakville, Ontario's hip hop sensation "Just-In-Rhymes" who came to the studio in late-2010.

Here is an interview with Hamilton Thunderbirds Catcher Matt Fortuna. The interview took place early in the 2010 season. Matt is known for his veteran presence, and his brother Mike also pitches for the team.
